What Is an Environmental Product Declaration?

The Environmental Product Declaration, or EPD, is a tool that allows for the transparent quantification and communication of the environmental impact and carbon footprint of construction materials and products.

In the case of porphyry products, the analysis takes into account the various stages of the life cycle: from extraction to processing and manufacturing, through to disposal and the identification of end-of-life environmental benefits.

EPD, CAM, and Public Procurement

In Italy, the EPD is a key tool for demonstrating compliance with the Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM), in accordance with the requirements specified in public procurement contracts for construction, roadwork, and urban redevelopment projects.

Technical Information and Product Comparison

For more information, and to compare the environmental footprint of the various types of porphyry products used in the same project, please contact the Italporphyry technical staff.

For example, in a project that calls for sidewalks made of sawn tiles and streets paved with porphyry pavers, comparing the different types of products can help designers and clients better assess the environmental characteristics of the materials.
