Steps and covers

There are three main types of steps:

  • Natural quarry plane steps: porphyry steps with natural plane are used for forming or covering stairs. Covers are used to demarcate, cover or protect building structures such as walls, landings, balconies, etc.
  • Processed top steps: worked porphyry steps and covers come with a flamed, sandblasted, bush-hammered or brushed surface. The viewed side may have the same workmanship or may be sawn or split.
  • Solid steps: solid porphyry steps are unique full-thickness pieces also called "solid" steps. In exteriors, their natural or flamed surface has one of the most non-slip and safe walking surfaces. The exposed rib can be split, bush-hammered, flamed, sandblasted or milled.
